Killed at the Bull Run!
A Tragic end to a tragic event in Gata de Gorgos, Alicante, as an 89 year old spectator is gored to death watching the infamous Bull-Run.
Though some daredevils chose to run in front of the raging 800kg bull as it runs our streets looking for revenge, 89 year old Miguel Sirerol thought he was safe behind the barriers erected by the town hall. However, this Bull charged the barrier ripping the gentleman's chest with its horn(s).
The Town Hall of Gata de Gorgos publicly stated, "We want to express our condolences to the family of Miguel Sirerol, who lost his life during the celebration of the Bull Run"
Is it time we abolished this "festival"? Though many believe the Bull Run, as well as Bull Fighting, is a large part of Spanish heritage and culture, so it is likely to continue, at least for a couple of years.
Others think it is an atrocity, and can only cause trouble. Trouble? Teasing a metric ton bull to boiling point and releasing him into our narrow streets to cause chaos can be trouble? Well of course!
Personally, I believe this "festival" is atrocious, mistreating animals in this fashion is simply unacceptable in this day and age, and though my sympathies go out to Miguel´s family, this shouldn't have been let happen in the first place.
